Like most countries around the world, Vietnam has to close its borders when the Covid-19 virus started spreading rapidly. Recently, Vietnam has started opening its borders, but will only allow a limited number of passengers to enter each day. They are not allowing the entry of foreign tourists yet, but only those who have “very compelling” reasons to visit. Take note that applying for a business visa to Vietnam would require having a sponsor company. So if a Vietnamese company is inviting you into the country, that company will be your sponsor. Here’s how to apply for a business visa.

  • First, your sponsor company should send a letter of request to the Local People’s Committee of the city in Vietnam that you intend to visit. So if you’re going to Hanoi, the letter should be sent to the Local People’s Committee of Hanoi. This letter should explain the reason why you need to go to Vietnam. If they will allow your visit, they will issue a travel permit.
  • After receiving the travel permit, the sponsor company should now go to the Vietnam Immigration Department to apply for your business visa. Aside from the travel permit, you must submit other requirements including a copy of your Samoan passport.
  • When your business visa is issued, your sponsor company should forward the visa to you. That way, you can start booking your flight to Vietnam.

Restrictions and Quarantine When Entering Vietnam During Covid 19

Since the Covid-19 virus is still fast spreading in some other countries, Vietnam has implemented strict regulations for all foreigners entering the country. This is to ensure that the virus will not spread into the country. So before you can fly to Vietnam, there are many requirements that you should prepare.

  • Since you will quarantine for 14 days upon your entry into Vietnam, you are required to book your hotel stay in advance. There are various hotels across the country that the Vietnamese government has designated as quarantine facilities. So you need to book any. Of these hotels for your entire 14-day stay. Your booking should also include a pre-booked vehicle that will pick you up from the airport and bring you directly to your hotel.
  • To ensure that none of the foreign visitors are carrying the Covid-19 virus, the Vietnam government has also required that a negative Covid-19 certificate will be presented upon entry into the country. The test must be done at least 3 to 5 business days before entry into Vietnam and should be performed in a WHO-authorized laboratory in Samoa.
  • Travel insurance is another important requirement that Vietnamese authorities would require to anyone traveling to Vietnam these days. That way, if you will get sick with Covid-19, the insurance will cover the cost of treatment. But if you cannot show proof of insurance, your sponsor company will be obliged to submit an agreement that they will pay for the cost of your treatment.

All visitors arriving in Vietnam airports will be checked for symptoms. Anyone showing symptoms will be isolated immediately and will be tested. If the result is positive, the patient will be taken to the hospital for treatment. But if it’s negative, then the visitor can proceed to the hotel for quarantine.

👉 At the Quarantine Facility

While you are on quarantine, you must not be in contact with anyone outside of your hotel room. You should follow the protocols that the local health authorities have imposed. If you start to develop symptoms, you should inform the authorities immediately.

During your quarantine, you will undergo testing twice. On the sixth day, you will be tested for Covid-19 while on quarantine. If the result is negative, you can continue with your quarantine and will be tested on the last day again. You can only end your quarantine and proceed with your business in Vietnam if both results are negative.
