  • Difference between e-visa and VOA

VOA is obtained once you arrive at any of the international checkout points of Vietnam. At the airport, you are asked to provide the immigration officials with required documents and fees. E-visa can be applied online from any e-visa online portal of Vietnam. The applicable fee needs to be online and you are required to upload the documents as well. You will receive your e-visa through email.

  • Number of days of stay

Vietnam offers an exemption of 15 days for the people of the United Kingdom. E-visa is a single entry visa allows Brits to enter Vietnam only once and stay there for as long as 1 month. For visa on arrival, they can stay as long as for 30-90 days with single and multiple visits included for both tourism and business purpose.

  • Reapplication when expired

Vietnam e-visa for UK citizens is only valid for 30 days, after that, if you want to get a visa extension from within Vietnam, you will have to contact through a local traveling agency (it may take at least a week, so apply for your e-visa extension a week or two early). Else, you will have to leave the country and reapply again. You can apply for e-visa during your 15-day exemption stay in Vietnam.

The applicants for the Vietnam e-visa for UK citizen will have to provide a few basic documents and upload them online for applying. The scanned copies of the documents, which are needed, are as follows:

  • Make sure that you sill the form before 7 days of your arrival into the country.

  • Specific ravel plans including the dates of the stay, address of hotel, name of the city you are planning to stay in
  • UK passport
    • Scanned bio-data including the photograph
    • It should remain valid until after 6 months of arrival date
    • Should have at least 2 blank pages to stamp the Visa
  • A credit/debit card to make the payment for visa

Vietnam e-Visa Application Procedures

The application procedure online is really easy. But, the information given should be checked and reviewed before submission. Actual copies may be called upon at any time. The application is usually processed and approved between one to three days. Upon approval, the visa will be sent to the e-mail ID provided by the applicant. However, due to the general delay in the bureaucratic procedure, it will be safe to apply at least a week before the date of the journey.

The visa must be printed by the applicant and presented in front of the appropriate customs authority upon request. Also, if a person holds more than one passport, then the passport whose information was given at the time of application must be presented.
