How to Renew My Vietnamese Visa in Phu My Hung (District 7, HCMC)

If you are a foreign visitor living in the Phu My Hung District of Ho Chi Minh and you would like to extend your stay in the country even further, you can apply for a visa renewal in the Immigration Office of Ho Chi Minh. There are two immigration offices in Ho Chi Minh City, so you can go to either of these cities if you want your Vietnamese visa renewed.

To apply for a visa renewal, you will be required to fill out an application form and submit other documents, including your passport. Here’s everything you need to know when it comes to renewing your Vietnamese visa in Phu My Hung.

What is Visa Renewal?

As a foreigner in Vietnam, you should know that your stay in the country is limited, depending on the validity of your visa. For instance, if your visa is only valid for 30 days, then you should make sure to leave the country before the 30-day period ends. Otherwise, you will be fined for overstaying. Now if you decide to extend your stay, you have two options for your visa – extension or renewal.

When you apply for the visa renewal, Vietnam Immigration will issue a new visa that will allow you to stay in the country for a much longer time. This will allow you to stay in the country much longer. And since a new visa will be issued, the processing fee for the visa renewal is more expensive than the visa extension.

The visa renewal is a good option for foreigners who enjoy visa-free privileges to Vietnam. These are foreigners who are eligible for the visa exemption scheme. Under this scheme, certain nationalities can enter Vietnam visa-free, but their stay is only limited. Usually, the stay is only good for 15 days, depending on the nationality. For those who wanted to stay longer than the allowed number of days, they can apply for a visa renewal.
