Vietnam Immigration Re-open Business Visa Application for Essential Purpose

After closing its borders to international visitors for several months, Vietnam is already allowing the entry of foreigners. However, only those who are visiting the country for essential purposes will be allowed at the moment. These include long-term and short-term foreign investors, experts, business managers, highly-skilled workers, along with their family members.

But in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Vietnamese authorities will limit the entry of foreigners and prior approval is needed. In addition, they have suspended the issuance of visas on arrival and e-visa. Therefore, the only way you can enter Vietnam right now is to apply for a business visa. Here’s everything you need to know when it comes to applying for a Vietnam business visa.

Take note that the business visa will only be issued to foreign visitors who are going to Vietnam for essential visits. These are foreigners who are coming here to do business or explore business opportunities. Foreign experts who will be working for a Vietnamese company are also qualified to apply for the Vietnam business visa. But you need to coordinate with your sponsor company who will apply for the visa and the entry permit on your behalf.

When applying for a business visa for Vietnam, you must submit the following requirements:

Types of Vietnam Business Visa

There are different types of business visas that you can apply for when visiting Vietnam. These visas are categorized according to their validity and number of entries. Depending on how long you intend to stay, here are the different types of Vietnam business visas that you can choose from:

  • One month single entry
  • Three months single entry
  • One month multiple entries
  • Three months multiple entries
  • Six months multiple entries
  • One year multiple entries

Single entry means you can only use the visa to enter the country once. If you plan on entering the country several times in a given period, you can opt for multiple entries. But take note that you are required to quarantine for 14 days upon your arrival in Vietnam. So this is something you need to consider if you plan on entering the country several times.

How to Get a Business Visa for Vietnam?

There are two ways in which you can apply for your business visa for Vietnam. Take note that the visa on arrival is currently suspended, so you can only apply for your visa through a Vietnamese embassy or consulate in your country or go through a local agency online that can facilitate your visa application.

1. Applying for Business Visa at Vietnam Embassy or Consulate

If there is a Vietnam embassy or consulate near you, then visit them and bring the requirements mentioned above. Take note that aside from your passport and sponsor letter, they will also require you to submit a confirmation booking in an authorized hotel for your 14 days of quarantine. The booking must also include a pre-booked vehicle that will pick you up from the airport and take you to the designated hotel for quarantine. Depending on your purpose of visit to Vietnam, the embassy might ask you to submit additional requirements before your visa will be processed.

2. Applying for Business Visa from a Local Agency

If there’s no Vietnam embassy or consulate in your area, you can look for a local agency online that can facilitate the application of your Vietnam business visa. These agencies have a website that you can visit to find out more about their services. If you will use their services for your visa, you will be asked to complete an online form for your visa application. You will also be asked to submit the scanned copy of the required documents as mentioned above. Once your business visa application is approved, you will receive an email with a copy of your visa. Print the visa and bring it with you on your flight to Vietnam.

Additional Requirements

To prevent the entry of the Covid-19 virus, Vietnamese authorities have required all foreign visitors to undergo quarantine upon arrival in the country. So aside from the business visa, you are required to have a hotel booking from a designated hotel in Vietnam. Also, you must get tested for Covid-19 at least 3 to 4 days before your travel. You are required to present a negative result of the Covid-19 test before boarding your flight.
