How to Extend My Vietnamese Visa in Long An
So what exactly is a visa extension? Visa extension is the ability to extend the validity of your Vietnamese visa. Most visas are only valid for 30 days, although some are holding a visa that’s valid for 60 days. Either way, if you find that the validity of your visa is not enough to cover the entire duration of your stay in Long An City, then the best thing that you can do is to extend its validity.
You can extend the visa to the same validity period. This means that if the validity period of your visa is 30 days, then you can request an extension of another 30 days. And if it’s valid for 60 days, then you can extend it for another 60 days. Also, you’re only allowed to extend the visa up to two times. And when your visa extension is approved, your passport will be stamped indicating the new validity date.
When requesting an extension of your visa in Long An City, you are required to submit some requirements. You must make sure to submit them all so that the Vietnam Immigration Department can process your visa extension. So here are the basic requirements needed for a visa extension request:
👉 Passport – when requesting for your visa to be extended, you should submit the original copy of your passport. Your passport must also have an expiration date of at least six months from the date you submitted the request. So check your passport before you go to the Immigration Office.
👉 Duly accomplished application form – just like when you apply for a new visa, you’re required to fill in the application form. The application form for visa extension is known as the NA5 form and this form is available to download online. It’s a good idea to download the form in advance to save time. But if you can’t download the form, you can go directly to the Immigration Office in Long An City. They will give you the form there and all you will do is to fill it out completely.
👉 Visa copy – you need to submit to them the visa that you are trying to extend. The visa is usually attached to one of the pages of your passport. But if the visa is a separate paper, then you’ve got to submit that. Make sure you submit the original copy.
Depending on your nationality and some other factors, you could be required to send in additional requirements aside from the basic requirements stated above. The Immigration Department of Vietnam will call you if they need more requirements from you. Make sure you submit them so as not to delay the approval of your visa extension.
After you have prepared all the requirements, it’s time to submit your application. Here are the steps:
👉 First, get in touch with the Vietnam Immigration Office in Long An City. Explain that you wanted to extend your stay in Vietnam and you wanted your visa to be extended as well. Listen to their instructions and make sure you follow them.
👉 On the day of your appointment, fill out the application form at the Immigration Office if you haven’t done yet. Then submit the form together with your passport and other requirements.
👉 The staff who will receive the application will review everything that you have written and will make sure you did not miss out on anything. They will also review the requirements you have submitted.
👉 If everything is complete, they will ask for the payment of the processing fee so they can start to process your extension request.
