How To Get Vietnam Business Visa for Indian Citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic

Indian businessmen who wish to visit Vietnam during this Covid-19 pandemic can now apply for a business visa. Take note that the only foreign visitors that the Vietnamese authorities will allow are those who are visiting for “essential purposes”, such as foreign businessmen, investors, business managers, and skilled workers. Foreigners who want to visit for tourism purposes are still not allowed to enter. Vietnam would like to limit the entry of foreigners since the Covid-19 virus is still spreading very fast in several countries around the world.

Aside from applying for the business visa, there are several other requirements that every Indian visitor needs to comply with when visiting Vietnam during this time.

Applying for a Business Visa to Vietnam for Indian Citizens

In order for the business visa to be processed, an Indian foreign visitor to Vietnam must first have a Vietnam-based sponsor company. The sponsor company can then follow the following procedures for the application of the business visa to Vietnam:

  • First, the sponsor company should write a letter to the Local People’s Committee to ask permission on behalf of the foreign visitor. The letter should discuss the reason for the visit and some details about the work or business. If the Committee will approve the visit, they will give an entry permit.
  • The next thing that the sponsor company will do is to submit the permit to the Vietnam Immigration Department for the business visa to be processed.
  • After about a week or two, the Vietnam Immigration Department will issue the business visa if they will approve your visit to the country. Once you receive your visa, you can now book your flight to Vietnam.

Restrictions and Quarantine When Entering Vietnam During Covid 19

When travelling to Vietnam these days, you are required to abide by the restrictions and quarantine requirements. Since the Covid-19 virus is still spreading rapidly, Vietnam does not want to take any chances. So in order to make sure that all foreign visitors do not carry the virus, Vietnam has implemented the following travel requirements.

👉 Before Entry

  • Before you fly to Vietnam, you need to book a hotel stay for your 14-day quarantine. But you cannot just stay at any hotel. You need to book your stay at any of the hotels that the Vietnam government has designated as quarantine facilities. When booking the hotel, your sponsor company must also coordinate with the Local People’s Committee so they can inform the local health authorities.
  • Your hotel booking should include a pre-booked vehicle that will pick you up from the airport since you cannot take any form of transportation if you have not undergone the quarantine yet.
  • Aside from undergoing quarantine, all foreign visitors will be asked to submit a Covid-19 test that will certify that the visitor does not carry the virus. The Covid-19 test must be taken at least 3 to 5 days before the day of entry to Vietnam and must be performed at a WHO-certified laboratory in India.
  • All foreign visitors are also required to have travel insurance that can shoulder the cost of treatment in case they get sick of Covid-19. Those who cannot show proof of insurance must ask their sponsor to submit a document stating that they agree to shoulder the cost of treatment if the visitor gets sick.

👉 Upon Entry

When you arrive at the airport in Vietnam, you will be evaluated for any symptoms of the Covid-19 virus. Anyone who has fever, cough, and other symptoms will be isolated immediately and will be tested for Covid-19. If the result returns positive, the foreign visitor must be taken to the hospital to be treated. But if the result is negative, then they can proceed to their waiting vehicle.

👉 At the Quarantine Facility

While undergoing quarantine at the hotel, all foreign visitors should adhere to the strict safety measures imposed by the local health authorities to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. They should avoid direct contact with any person outside of their hotel room. And if they start developing symptoms of the virus, they should call the health authorities right away.  While isolating, the visitor will be tested twice. If both tests are negative, the visitor can end the quarantine.

Consult with a Local Agency for Assistance

Traveling to Vietnam during this Covid-19 pandemic is a bit complicated. Several requirements are needed especially a business visa. And before you can be given a visa, you must have a sponsor company. If you do not have a sponsor company but you need to go to Vietnam for some important reasons, you can ask for help from a local agency for assistance. The agency will send a letter to the Local People’s Committee to ask for a travel permit that will be used for the application for your business visa.
