Immigration Procedures For Visitors Who Entering Vietnam In Term Of Covid 19

When traveling these days, it’s important that you know the rules and requirements ahead. For instance, if you’re traveling to Vietnam, there are certain procedures that need to be followed. These new procedures are put in place in order to stop or minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The Vietnam Health Ministry would require all arriving passengers to undergo quarantine upon arrival and get tested for Covid-19. It is the passenger who must shoulder the cost involved for the quarantine and test.  Those who are visiting for diplomatic purposes are exempted from the testing fees.

There are three different quarantine procedures that foreign visitors to Vietnam must follow. This will mainly depend upon the type of visitors that they are.

What You Should Know For 14-Day Quarantine In Vietnam Due To Covid-19

Centralized Quarantine for 14 Days

This applies to Vietnamese citizens and foreign visitors who have Vietnamese family members, such as spouses, parents, or kids. Here’s the procedure to follow:

👉 Before boarding the flight:

• A passport that’s valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
• Copy of the entry approval, which will be issued by the competent authority.
• A negative result of the Covid-19 test taken 3 to 5 days before departure.
• Confirmation of the quarantine hotel with shuttle service
• Electronic medical declaration form to be completed 12 hours before departure.

👉 At the airplane:

• Passengers must wear a mask during the entire duration of the flight.

👉 At the entry gate at the airport:

• Wear the mask and undergo a temperature check.
• Present all the requirements that were shown before boarding.
• Install three applications on a mobile device – Vietnam Health Declaration, NCOVI, and Bluezone.
• Follow strict safety measures when transferring to the quarantine location.

👉  Centralized isolation:

• Always wear a mask while in quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus.
• Get tested for Covid-19 on your first day of isolation.
• Continuously update the health tracking apps with your health status.
• Get tested for Covid-19 on your 14 days in the country.

Centralized Quarantine for Less Than 14 Days

This process is applicable to foreign visitors who are investors, business managers, experts, high-tech professionals, as well as their family members, such as their spouse, kids, and parents. These are the same rules that will apply to international students.

The same rules and regulations stated above will apply before boarding the flight and when riding the plane, as well as at the entry gate. But during the first seven days of your isolation process, the following rules will apply:

• Always wear a mask to prevent the spread of infection while in your accommodation area.
• Get tested for the Covid-19 upon your arrival at your accommodation in case testing has not been made at the airport. Take note that Covid-19 testing will be performed twice. Once on the first day and another on the sixth day of isolation.
• If the visitor tested negative for Covid-19 on its sixth day, he or she will be transferred to a residence accommodation or quarantine location.

During the next seven days, the visitor will be allowed to work or go to school, and carry out necessary activities. However, they are prohibited from using public transportation to prevent transmission to other people in case they are positive for Covid-19. It’s also very important that they stay connected to the tracking app and update it with their current health status.

No Centralized Quarantine

This rule applies to foreigners who are entering the country for diplomatic or official purposes. It will also be applicable to foreign experts who are going to visit Vietnam for only a short time, or equivalent to less than 14 days. These visitors don’t need to go on a centralized quarantine upon arrival in Vietnam but they still must adhere to the health and safety protocols to minimize or prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Just like with all visitors going to Vietnam, they are required to provide a negative Covid-19 test certificate, which was taken 3 – 5 days prior to departure. They will also be asked to answer the electronic medical declaration 12 hours before departure.

Unlike the other visitors that will be required to go on a centralized isolation area, these visitors can isolate at home or in a special accommodation arranged by their respective company or agency.

On their first day of isolation, they will be subjected to a Covid-19 test. Another test will be conducted on the 14th day. For those who are staying in the country for less than 14 days, they will be tested on the first day and after every 3 days thereafter.  Most importantly, they are required to continuously connect to the tracking app and update it with the status of their health. If they are showing any symptoms, they must inform immediately so they will be tested and undergo immediate treatment if they are positive.
