Steps to Apply Vietnam E-visa for Indian Citizens

Indian passport holders planning to visit Vietnam is not under the visa exemption list and requires visa to enter Vietnam. The citizens of Indian can apply for Vietnam visa through three means. This includes applying for Vietnam visa through Vietnamese embassy or consulate, through visa on arrival, and applying for Vietnam e-visa. Step #1

The process of applying Vietnam e-visa for Indian is easy and quick, and takes only three days for approval. Unlike the traditional way of waiting at the Vietnamese embassy to get a single form to fill up, Vietnam e-visa requires Indians to fill out the online application. As an Indian citizen, you have to enter some of the basic personal information such as,

  • Full name as in passport, DOB, passport number, passport expiry date,…
  • Email address, address of communication in Vietnam, ….
  • You entry and exit date, ….
  • You  are required to upload a scan of your passport & a digital photo (Photo Guide)

The name you type in the online application should be exactly same as that of the name in your passport. Any misspell or error in the name could lead to rejection of your application or delay in processing. You must also enter the correct travel details to process your application without any delay. Step #2

After entering all the required fields of the application, you must submit it online. Before submitting the application, you will be asked to pay a visa fee to get the process begin. You can make the payment for your Vietnam e-visa using debit or credit card. You should not use any other cards to make the payment. After this step, you will receive an invoice for the payment made.

Step #3

After the payment process is over, click on the ‘submit’ button to submit the online application for Vietnam e-visa for Indian.

Once you submit your online application, it gets processed instantly. It may take two days to verify your personal details and clear the security requirements. Once it’s done, the e-visa will be send to your e-mail.

Step #4

When you receive the Vietnam e-visa via your mail, take a print out of it because you will need it to complete your immigration procedure at the destination airport.

Vietnam E-visa Validity

The Vietnam e-visa is available for 30 days and single entry. The validity starts from the date printed in the e-visa and continues for 30 days. You can enter Vietnam on the entry date or after the entry date. But, you cannot be able to enter Vietnam 30 days after the entry date.

Processing Time

The processing time for Vietnam e-visa is two days and it is recommended to apply Vietnam e-visa at least 7 days before the date of travel. This avoids any unnecessary errors or delays in visa processing.

Dual Nationality

If you are an Indian with dual nationality, you must ensure that you enter Vietnam with the passport that you used to apply the Vietnam e-visa. You may face entry refusal or invalid visa if you fail to produce the right passport at the entrance.

Visa Approval

Once the Vietnam e-visa gets approved, it is send to your e-mail directly. You can download it to submit it before the immigration department at the destination. In the Vietnam visa on arrival, the visa approval letter will be mailed and you must take a print out of it. You must show this print out along with the visa application form at the immigration department at the destination airport to pick up your visa. One main disadvantage of Vietnam visa on arrival is you must wait and pay for the visa stamp at the destination airport.

Cost

The costs of Vietnam visa on arrival are various and depend on a number of factors such as country of your passport, length of stay, number of entries, types of visa, availability of pre-authorisation … an extra fee called stamp fee is required on arrival when pick up your visa. The cost of Vietnam e-visa is $25 and no extra payment on arrival.
