Vietnam Extends Visa-Free Stays to 45 Days for Visitors from Select Countries

Vietnam has recently announced the approval of the revised Vietnam Immigration Law, which allows citizens of countries subject to Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption to stay in the country for up to 45 days without needing a visa. This new policy will come into effect on August 15, 2023.

As part of its initiatives to control the rapid spread of the coronavirus, also known as Covid 19, Vietnam has suspended issuing new visas to all foreign nationals. Not only that, but Vietnam has also stopped the visa-free entry of those foreigners who are part of the visa waiver policy.

During the height of the coronavirus outbreak from 2020, Vietnam has decided to temporarily suspend the visa waiver program. Under the program, citizens of certain countries will be able to enter Vietnam for a certain period of time without the need to apply for a visa.

Due to the friendly relations of the Government of Vietnam and the Republic of Panama, Vietnam has decided to offer a 90-day visa-free entry for all citizens of Panama. To be allowed entry into Vietnam, the citizen must be holding an ordinary passport that has a minimum validity of six months.
