Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Afghanistan

According to the Agreement between Vietnam and Afghanistan for visa and passport exemption (signed Dec. 28, 1987, effective Feb. 26, 1988) saying:

1. Citizens of each Contracting Party who hold either one of the two following national passports will be exempt from visas of the Other

  • For the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Diplomatic passport and Service passport
  • For the Republic of Afghanistan: Diplomatic Passport and Service Passport.

2. For citizens of each Contracting Party who hold other kinds of national passports to enter, exit, and transit the territory of the Other, the appropriate visas will be required.

It means that:

  • Afghan citizens who hold diplomatic and official passports can stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days without a visa.)
  • Afghan citizens who hold ordinary passports must apply for visas.
