Vietnam E-visa via Chu Lai Int’l Airport

When applying for a visa to Vietnam, you will have two options to choose from, the Vietnam Visa on Arrival and the E-visa. As the name suggests, the Visa on Arrival is a type of visa that you will get when you arrive. On the other hand, the e-visa refers to an electronic visa, which means it’s a digital version of the actual Vietnam visa.

The Vietnam e-visa is a more convenient option for applying for a Vietnam visa. It can be applied online and will be issued online as well. Once you receive it in your email, you can print the visa and bring it with you on your trip to Vietnam. When you arrive at the Chu Lai International Airport, you just show this visa together with your passport, and they will let you enter the country.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, applying for a Vietnam visa will require you to submit additional requirements. So here’s what you need to know when applying for the Vietnam e-visa via Chu Lai International Airport.

What is a Vietnam E-visa?

The Vietnam E-visa is one of the many visas that the Vietnam Immigration Department will issue to foreign visitors entering the country. E-visa is a shortened term for electronic visas. Unlike the regular visa that you need to get from the Vietnam Immigration Office, this visa can be applied over the Internet, which is why it is also known as the digital visa. Once the visa is approved, it will be sent via email in PDF format. All you need to do is to download the file and print it. You can then present this visa at the Passport Control n Chu Lai International Airport and you will be stamped for entry.

Applying for a Vietnam E-visa This Covid-19 Pandemic

Now that we are in the middle of a Covid-19 pandemic, applying for an e-visa is a bit different. There will be additional requirements that you need to fulfill, such as the entry permit. And before you can be granted an entry permit, you must first have a sponsor company that will request the entry permit on your behalf. For foreigners who are visiting as foreign workers, their Vietnamese employers can serve as their sponsors. Those who have no employer can hire a local agency to be their sponsor.

To apply for the entry permit, the sponsor company must submit a scanned copy of your passport to Vietnam Immigration. Your sponsor company must also include a letter asking permission for your entry. Along with this, the sponsor company must coordinate with the Local People’s Authority for your quarantine facility.

Once your visit is approved, Vietnam Immigration will issue the travel permit. Your sponsor will forward the entry permit to you so you can start applying for your e-visa. Once you receive your e-visa, you can start booking your flight to Vietnam. Sometimes, the Vietnam Immigration might ask for a copy of your flight ticket when applying for the e-visa. But if you do not have a flight ticket yet, you can inform them that you will submit the details about your flight at a later time. These days, there are only limited flights to Vietnam so you may have to check with the Vietnam embassy in your area for any available flights.

Booking a Hotel for your Quarantine

If you are going to Hoi An via Chu Lai International Airport, you can have your quarantine at any of the hotels and resorts in Hoi An that have been designated by the government to be used as quarantine facilities. The agent who will serve as your sponsor can help you with that. Make sure that your booking also includes an airport transfer service. Since you cannot take public transportation from the airport going to your hotel in Hoi An, the hotel should send a private vehicle to pick you up.

The quarantine period for all travelers arriving in Vietnam coming from other countries is 14 days. However, the Vietnamese government has recently revealed that those who have been vaccinated can quarantine for only 7 days. But they must be able to show a vaccination certificate.

Travel Insurance with Covid-19 Coverage

Another requirement that the Vietnamese government would require from travelers is the travel insurance that comes with Covid-19 coverage. Since we are still in the middle of a pandemic, there is a chance that you could get infected with the virus while in Vietnam. When this happens, your insurance should be able to pay for the cost of your treatment at a hospital in Vietnam. If you don’t have insurance, you should be able to show proof that you are capable of paying for the treatment. Otherwise, your sponsor company should submit a document stating that they will shoulder the cost of your treatment if you get sick.
