Visa On Arrival

Vietnam Visa on Arrival via Long Thanh Airport

Long Thanh International Airport is the newest airport in Vietnam that’s currently under construction in Long Thanh. It’s located just outside of Ho Chi Minh City and was built in order to accommodate the increasing number of foreign tourist arrivals in the country. This new airport will be equipped with all the modern facilities similar to the Tan Son Nhat International airport of Ho Chi Minh. This includes a visa landing counter where foreign visitors can claim their visas upon arrival.

So if you have plans to visit Ho Chi Minh soon, you may want to consider flying into the Long Thanh Airport. And if you were among those tourists that need a visa to Vietnam, the Visa on Arrival would be a great visa to use.

What is a Vietnam Visa on Arrival?

The Vietnam government started offering the Visa on Arrival last 2008. It’s a visa that tourists can get upon arrival at the airport in Vietnam. With this visa, they no longer need to visit a Vietnam embassy in their country to personally apply for their visa. All they need to do is to apply for the visa ahead of time and this can be done online.

The best thing about the Visa on Arrival is that it allows tourists to choose between the single and multiple entries during their application. They can also choose between 30-day or 60-day validity. Therefore, this is a great visa to use if you plan on staying in the country for up to two months.

Applying for a Pre-approval Letter for your Visa on Arrival

Although the visa on arrival can only be claimed upon your arrival at Long Thanh Airport, you need to apply for this visa ahead of your trip. Once they approve your application, they will send you a pre-approval letter. The letter is very important because this will serve as proof that you’ll have a visa to claim when you arrive in Vietnam. There are some airline companies that will ask for your visa before they let you board the plane. In this case, you only need to show them the pre-approval letter.

The letter will come from the Immigration Department of Vietnam. This will be sent to the email address that you give them during the application. It will be in a PDF file. Print this letter and bring it with you to your flight to Long Thanh Airport.

What Are the Requirements To Get Vietnam Visa on Arrival

Aside from the letter, you’ll be asked to submit several other requirements at Long Thanh Airport before you will be given a visa. So these are the requirements you need to prepare:

  • Passport– Your passport should remain valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Completely filled-out visa application form – along with the visa approval letter, you’ll also receive a blank application for your email. Print this form and provide all the required information.  Vietnamese-visa-application-form (Form NA1)
