Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – the Philippines

Memorandum Of Understanding Between The Government Of The Socialist Republic Of Vietnam And The Government Of The Republic Of The Philippines On Visa Exemption For Holders Of Official Passports And Visa Facilitation For Holders Of Ordinary Passports. Signed on December 17, 1998, effective from February 16, 1999.

Have agreed on the following with respect to holders of official and ordinary passports;

Article 1

Citizens of one Party, who are holders of valid official passports, shall be exempt from visa requirements for entry into, exit from, and transit through the Territory of the other Party at the border-checking points designated for international travel.

The citizens referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article shall be permitted to stay in the territory of the other Party for a maximum period of 30 days. Upon the request in writing of the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Post of the Party whose citizens are holders of such passports, the other Party may extend the temporary stay of those citizens.

Article 2

Citizens of one Party and members of their families holding valid official passports, accredited to work in the Diplomatic Mission, Consular Post or International Organizations located in the other Party, shall be permitted to enter this country without visa and allowed to stay for a maximum of 30 days, during which time they should obtain the necessary authorization from the competent authorities of the receiving Party.

Note:

Exchange of visa exemption notes for ordinary passports according to the principle of reciprocity; Effective for Vietnamese citizens from January 1, 2000, and for Philippine citizens from April 1, 2000:

Travelers with ordinary passports are exempt from visas for a temporary stay of up to 21 days, provided that their passport remains valid for at least 6 months and they hold a round-trip air ticket or onward ticket to another country.

The government of Vietnam has recently announced a unilateral decision to exempt citizens of Norway from requiring a visa for entry into the country. This new regulation means that Norwegian passport holders can now travel to Vietnam without the need to obtain a visa in advance, for stays of up to 45 days.

Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Kingdom of Oman on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports, special passports, and official passports. The agreement was signed on April 28, 2022, effective from January 14, 2023.

Agreement between the Governments of Vietnam and Nicaragua on visa exemption for citizens of both countries. The agreement, which was signed on March 14, 1983, is currently in effect.

Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Nepal on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic or official passports. The agreement was signed on May 11, 2019, effective June 25, 2019.
