WHAT IS VIETNAM VISA ON ARRIVAL?
Vietnam Visa On Arrival is one of the several ways to obtain for the Visa to visit Vietnam. Unlike a Vietnam Electronic Visa (Vietnam e-Visa) which is just applied for 80 countries (updated from 01 February 2019), Vietnam Visa on arrival is available for citizens of all countries around the world. Applicants can apply for the Vietnam Visa on arrival for vary of kinds from 1 month to 1 year with single entry or multiple entry with tourist or business purpose.


CONDITION TO APPLY FOR THE VIETNAM VISA ON ARRIVAL?

If you want to pick up your visa on arrival at Vietnam international airports, you must apply for a visa approval letter online in advance. This letter is approved and issued by Vietnam Immigration.
In case you wish to collect the visa on arrival, please be note that you are not allowed to take the flight if you do not have the Visa approval letter in your hand when check-in to take the flight.
Upon arrival, at Vietnam international airports, you are required to show the visa approval letter again at Visa on Arrival counter to collect the visa sticker onto your passport.


THE VIETNAM VISA APPROVAL LETTER
Visa Approval letter (Vietnam Visa Pre-Approved Letter) is a letter which is approved, signed & sealed by Vietnam Immigration Department (Vietnam Government). It allows you to board the airplane and pick up your visa on arrival at Vietnam international airports.

Applicants on the visa approval letter are granted permission to enter Vietnam, and they are permitted to pick up visa on arrival at the international airports.

Notes for the Vietnam Visa Approval Letter:
– The applicants’ passport information will be showed on the visa approval letter with detailed date of entry and length of stays permission.
– The information of applicants normally will share with many other customers (up to 40 people in one letter) and all applicants’ names are printed in this letter. This kind of letter is cheaper than the private one.
– If the applicants are concerned about privacy or security issues, they can ask for a private approval letter that bears only their name or the names of their group who are travelling with them. This kind of letter requires extra cost.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR VIETNAM VISA ON ARRIVAL?

Vietnam Visa on Arrival is available for all nationalities. But the fee and documents for processing will be a little different depends on each nationality.

ENTRY PORTS IS AVAILABLE FOR VIETNAM VISA ON ARRIVAL

Vietnam Visa on arrival is just available if you travel to Vietnam by Airplane. At presentm time, there are 6 international airports that you can enter by using Visa on Arrival, including:
Noi Bai (HAN) international airport – Hanoi city.
Tan Son Nhat (SGN) international airport – Ho Chi Minh city.
Cam Ranh (CXR) international airport – Nha Trang city.
Da Nang (DAD) international airport – Da Nang city.
Cat Bi (HPH) international airport – Hai Phong city.
Phu Quoc (PQC) international airport – Phu Quoc island.
Lien Khuong (DLI) international airport – Da Lat city

* Please note:
–  There are many airports in Vietnam, but only the above airports are accepted to get Visa on Arrival. Therefore, you must enter Vietnam through one of these airports.
– Vietnam Visa on Arrival is just available if you enter Vietnam through international airports only. You are not allowed to enter by sea ports or border check points with Visa on arrival. If you wish to enter via land or sea port, please consider applying for the Vietnam e-Visa.
– After getting Visa sticker on your passport, you can exit at any ports you want include land ports, sea ports…(no need to exit at the above international airports).

Notes:

– It normally takes 2 working days to get the visa approval letter from the date you apply Visa On Arrival. (Please note that 2 working days means weekdays, excluded Saturday, Sunday and Vietnam holidays).
– In case you need it urgently, you can use express service. This service helps you to get visa approval letter faster, within 1 working days, 8 hours, 4 hours or even 1 hours. You have to pay extra fee for express service.
– For some special cases, it takes longer than 2 working for processing, and the documents are required.


DOCUMENTS TO APPLY VISA ON ARRIVAL

Generally, the applicants do not need any documents to apply for Visa On Arrival. They just apply online with the basic personal information, such as full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, etc. The applicants do not need to submit passport scans or photo like e-Visa. Therefore, there is normally no documents required when applying Visa On Arrival.
However, for some special cases, the applicants need to attach these following documents:
– Hotel booking confirmation
– Round-trip air ticket confirmation
– Passport copy
Their visa will be approved according to hotel booking and round-trip air ticket.


VIETNAM VISA ON ARRIVAL FEES

Fees for Visa On Arrival are divided into two types: Services fee and stamp fee
* Services fee: The fee you will pay to apply for the Vietnam Visa approval letter. This service fee will be charged online before process your Visa application. The fee is varied according to the applicants’ nationality and the type of visa they choose.
* Stamping fee: Fee will be paid on arrival to collect the Visa sticker into your passport. This will be will be paid in cash at the airport when you arrive. When you apply visa on arrival, what you have in your hand before coming to Vietnam is just the visa approval letter only. You have not had Visa sticker in your passport yet. At the date you come to Vietnam, you will get visa sticker into your passport at the “visa landing counter” or “visa upon arrival counter” by submitting this Visa approval letter + Vietnamese application form+ pay stamp fee.

– Airport of arrival: The first airport you arrive in Vietnam. The Visa will be issued into your passport here.

WHERE TO PICK UP THE VISA ON ARRIVAL?

Upon arrival, at Vietnam international airports, you will see an office for issuing the visa, called “landing visa counter” or “visa upon arrival”. This office is located in front of passport control counter.
Please come to this office and submit some documents as below to collect the Visa into your passport:

– The Visa approval letter which is printed into paper already.
– The Visa application form – Form NA1 – information and photo is completed.
– Your original passport.
– Stamping fee.

After you submit these documents, you may way for some minutes. The officer will call your name and then you can collect your passport with the Visa inside.

* Note: Please check your visa carefully and ask for correction immediately because you will have no chance to correct the mistake after exit passport control counter.
