Vietnam Visa on Arrival via Phu Quoc Airport

Phu Quoc is a pretty little island in Vietnam sitting off the coast of Cambodia. It’s home to some of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful beaches. But unlike the more famous beaches of Thailand or Indonesia, Phu Quoc’s beaches are less crowded. Here, you can unwind and relax while enjoying the gorgeous views of the turquoise sea.

There are many ways in which you can travel to Phu Quoc, but the most convenient option is to fly directly to Phu Quoc Airport. For those who need a visa to enter Vietnam, you can apply for the Vietnam Visa on Arrival. This visa can be claimed at the airport in Phu Quoc, however, you are required to register for this visa ahead of your trip.

What is a Vietnam Visa on Arrival?

The Visa on Arrival is a tourist visa that foreign visitors to Vietnam can apply. This comes in the form of a sticker visa, which they will attach to your passport. But before they will issue the visa, you will need to apply for this visa online ahead of your trip. The process of applying for this visa is so easy. Everything is done online.

When applying for the visa on arrival, you need to fill out a visa application form online. Make sure you provide all details as accurately as possible. You will also be asked to choose whether you need the single entry or multiple entry visas and if you need the 30-day or 90-day validity. On the application form, you need to indicate which airport you are going to claim the visa. In this case, you should choose the Phu Quoc International Airport.

Getting a Visa at Phu Quoc International Airport

Once your visa application is approved, they will send you an email. In the email, you’ll find the pre-approval letter and a blank application form. You will need to print these out because you need to submit them at the airport in order to be given a visa. Here’s how you go about getting this type of visa.

  1. Connect to the Internet and open the website for the application of a visa on arrival. Fill out the form and make sure you provide everything that is being asked of you. Review before you submit.
  2. After about 2 business days of submitting your application form, you’ll get an email that contains the pre-approval letter and a blank application form (Vietnamese-visa-application-form (Form NA1)). Print these out and fill out the form.
  3. Fly to Phu Quoc, and when you arrive at the airport, look for the Visa Landing Counter. Here, submit the pre-approval letter, application form, passport-sized photo (Photo Guide), and your passport. Pay for the $25 processing fee with cash. You can pay in USD currency or Vietnamese dong.

When your visa is already available, the immigration officer will call you back to the counter. They will give you back your passport. Check the passport, and you will find your Vietnam visa attached in there. You can now proceed to Passport Control to enter Phu Quoc and start your holiday.

Why Should You Choose the Visa on Arrival for your Trip to Phu Quoc?

There are different types of tourist visas that you can apply for your trip to Phu Quoc. As a matter of fact, you can enter Phu Quoc visa-free but you can only stay for 30 days. But this would not be enough to enjoy everything in Vietnam. If you plan on visiting some other places aside from Phu Quoc, you might as well apply for the visa on arrival. With the visa on arrival, you can choose to apply for a multiple entry visa with a maximum stay of 90 days. This should allow you to enjoy Vietnam for up to two months.

Another reason why tourists would choose the Vietnam visa on arrival for Phu Quoc is that it’s so easy to apply. As stated above, there’s no longer a need to go to a Vietnam embassy to lodge your application. Everything is done online. And once you have the pre-approval letter, you can fly to Phu Quoc and claim your visa upon arrival.

Things to Keep In Mind

In order not to delay the processing of your visa, you need to make sure that you enter all information correctly. Double-check the spelling of your name because this will be used for your visa. You might get into trouble at Passport Control if the name on your visa does not match with what’s on your passport.

If possible, apply for the visa two weeks prior to your trip. This will give the Vietnam Immigration ample time to process your request. If you will not hear from them after 2 business days of submitting your visa application, you can send them an email for a follow-up.
