Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Mongolia

Note:

An agreement was signed on November 2, 2023, between Mongolia and Vietnam, which exempts holders of diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports from visa requirements. The agreement was signed by the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh, and the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son.

This new agreement will replace the Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Mongolia on travel conditions for citizens (signed on January 7, 2000).

Below is the Agreement between Vietnam and Mongolia on the Conditions of Mutual Visits of Citizens. Signed on January 7, 2000, effective from February 6, 2000.

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

  1. Citizens of one Contracting Party, who are holders of valid diplomatic or official passports, shall be exempt from visa requirement for entry into, exit from and transit through the territory of the other Contracting Party and the duration of stay does not exceed 90 (ninety) days from the date of entering. This duration may be extended, for the reasons of force majeure, upon the request in writing of the diplomatic mission or consular post of the Contracting Party whose citizens the passport holders are.
  2. The passport holders referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article, who intend to stay more than 90 (ninety) days in the territory of the other Contracting Party, are required to obtain visas in advance.
  3. The visas mentioned in paragraph 2 of this Article shall be issued on mutual gratis basis.

Article 2

  1. Citizens of one Contracting Party, who are members of the diplomatic mission or consular post of his or her country accredited in, or representatives of his or her country to the international organization located in the territory of the other Contracting Party, holding valid diplomatic or official passports, shall be exempt from visa requirement for entry into and exit from the latter’s territory, as well as be permitted to stay there during the period of their assignment.
  2. The same privileges shall also be applied to the spouse and children of the persons mentioned in paragraph 1 of this Article, provided that they are holders of diplomatic or official passports or the children’s names are entered in their father’s or mother’s passport.
