Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Myanmar

In 2013, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar signed the Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary Passports (hereinafter referred to as “the Agreement”), which came into effect from October 26″, 2013.

With desire to facilitate and promote bilateral cooperation and friendly exchanges between citizens of Viet Nam and Myanmar, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam kindly proposes the extension of visa-exempted stay for holders of ordinary passports of the two countries from 14 days to 30 days, provided that such stay shall not engage in employment or other commercial activities, by amending Article 2 of the Agreement as follows:

“1. Citizens of either Contracting Party exempted from entry and transit visa requirements under Article 1 of this Agreement shall be entitled to stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party for no more than thirty (30) days from the date of entry, provided that such stay shall not engage in employment or other commercial activities. In case of casual obstacles, an extension of stay may be requested in written form from the competent authorities of the latter Contracting Party by the diplomatic or consular post of the former Contracting Party.

2. Citizens of either Contracting Party intending to enter the territory of the other Party for a stay exceeding thirty (30) days or engaging in employment or other commercial activities will require visas issued by the competent offices of that Contracting Party.”

The agreement was signed on November 18, 2004, effective from December 19, 2004.

Note: An agreement was signed on November 2, 2023, between Mongolia and Vietnam, which exempts holders of diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports from visa requirements. The agreement was signed by the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh, and the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son.

Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports. The agreement was signed on April 4, 2008, effective on February 9, 2009.
